Though I'm sure many have already heard, I realized that I never shared publicly via email or social media:
It's a girl!
Andrea is now at 30 weeks, and the worst of Durango's meningitis outbreak is now behind us. Private hospitals are again being allowed to perform deliveries, with added vigilance and stringency regarding anaesthetics being used. All of this is great news for us, as delivery in a public hospital would have meant I would not have been allowed inside, and the quality of service and consideration given to Andrea would have likely been, to put it lightly, abysmal. (One gynecologist shared horror stories of women having to re-use blood-stained medical gowns, a single doctor attending to numerous births simultaneously, and other terrible things we would much rather avoid if at all possible.) As of now, all signs point toward us being able to have a natural birth in a private hospital with Andrea's preferred doctor delivering, though we are continuing to pray that an out-of-state trip by her doctor will not interfere in those plans. Thank you for your prayers for baby's (and Andrea's) health as we prepare for her arrival in May, and that our preferred delivery situation would indeed be able to happen.
*A baby shower has tentatively been scheduled for April 15th, and we will make registry information available to anyone who might want it*
